Nothing lasts forever..
but a well maintained aircraft can last for a very long time.
The deteriorating effects of age upon aircraft is not generally a reflection of the build quality of the aircraft, or likely to be indicative of the manufacturers design or quality control standards. In most cases it may be fair to say that some ageing aircraft have deteriorated faster than their siblings, simply because they were not looked after by their owners.
As always, a good indication of the condition of an ageing aircraft can be determined to a great extent just from an examination of the aircraft documentation. There's a fair chance that the condition of the aircraft and the details in the documentation will go hand in hand.
A cheap aircraft with it's logbooks missing could well cost you more than new one.
